Discovered a New Workout and a Treat...

And the high today is 105.
This means I do things in the morning and in the afternoon I stay inside as much as possible.

I am not really handling the heat well, it makes me very tired, either that or it's time to adjust the thyroid medication (did blood work yesterday for this so I am actually on top of it and taking it seriously).
We shall see what the verdict is....

I workout in the mornings before it gets to hot to walk from my car to the gym, not kidding.

I have stopped running, did that at around 5 months. Everything was very jiggly and I had to pee constantly when I would try to run so the the workout was stop and go- not really what I was looking for!

I was looking for some alternative workouts and different blogs kept mentioning "incline walking".
Alright.
I gave it a whirl....love it!

I go at a slower pace than most of the workouts I have seen posted.
Many I saw were called "killer walking workout" or "booty blasting walking", I tried but the pace on the "killer workouts" were, well, killer. And I've learned not to push myself like that.
I made my own workout and I keep the incline on the treadmill varied, I get my heart rate up and there is certainly sweat happening too.

Works the booty and thighs...which is good. I have discovered pregnant body clings to weight, especially in the lower regions. Totally natural, not fighting it but I am always happy to fit into my maternity jeans!

Here's my modified incline walking workout:

45 minutes total:

Min 1-3:  3.5 pace @ 3% incline
Min 4-6:  3.5 pace @ 6% incline
Min 7-9:  3.2 pace @ 9% incline
Min 10-12:  3.2 pace @ 10% incline
Min 13-15: 3.5 pace @ 3% incline

Repeat till you get to 45 min and do a long slow cool-down. Of course you can make this shorter and do two rounds of 15 minutes for a total of 30 min.
To ramp it up up, walk faster, like a 4.0 pace (15 minute mile), it'll get you sweating quick!

Here we are heading off to the gym!

Workout bump @ 26 almost 27 weeks. Got the tank at Old Navy for 8.00- go get some!
Shorts are from GAP (non-maternity), on sale and bought a size or two larger, worth the investment cause I'm not wearing long pants in this heat!

And for after your workout, I have a treat for you....the mint brownie from Dempsey Bakery.

I bought three cause they don't have them very often...there's one left.
They're THAT good.

I love Dempsey Bakery, they are gluten-free and have so many great things. They also do egg-free, nut-free, and dairy-free variations so they are really great for people with food allergy concerns.

Check them out in you're ever in Little Rock, very worth the trip.

Dressing up Bump: The skinny belt. Who knew?

Sweet Lord it is HOT.
100 degrees today. I mean really. It's only June folks...
Not looking promising for the rest of the summer cooling off or for me to be outside much unless it involves a pool.

Here's my view these days....

I didn't realized I couldn't see my feet anymore till looked down today!

Good times. The dog dishes look so tiny compared to that belt and bump don't they?

Point of this post, I discovered the skinny belt this week.
Never wore one pre-pregnancy, not sure if I'll wear one after but I am loving the belts as of now.
Before I was pregnant I thought they slid down awkwardly or gave me a bit of a muffin top, now they accent what waist I have left.

Digestion-Aid Smoothie and we're at 6 1/2 months

I love vacuum lines on the carpet.
I wish I saw them more often here at the house but I'll take them when I get them.
Did some cleaning this morning which might be why I took a nice nap this afternoon...or it could be because of the little wiggly one, who knows!

I am not a big fan of cleaning, countless years of roommates and house visitors can tell you that but I do love how the house FEELS after it's been cleaned.
Gotta remember that feeling...

I have a new smoothie to share with you and I am calling it the "digestion-aid smoothie".
Might have mentioned it in a previous post that pregnant women tend to have slower digestion.
I don't like to dwell on it cause it's not one of the things of pregnancy I would say is "joyous" but it is what it is.
Pre-pregnancy I was a fan of colonics and got them often so now that I don't get it have my colon time I look for ways to help the tummy in any way I can!

This smoothie is quick, easy and quite green.
Chug it and be on your way....cause it's not the most tasty recipe but it is a good way to start your tummy's day off right (and efficiently).

Breakfast Quinoa and Grain Free Cereal

I woke up and wanted something different for breakfast.
I usually do fruit, coconut butter and coffee. I also drink prune juice.... pregnant women often have slow digestion. I do what I can. : )

Anyway.

I follow a blog called Sweet Tater and she had posted a breakfast quinoa recipe a few days ago so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I did do some modifications. We had quinoa Sunday night so I used the leftovers instead of making fresh quinoa this morning but with that I got to make a single serving- win. :)

Breakfast Quinoa is what it sounds like, quinoa for breakfast....the key is to make it sweet instead of savory.

Here's my version:

Happy Father's Day, Yoga Thoughts and another Bump Pic!

Happy Father's Day!

We had a nice relaxing weekend and today was very relaxing for me as I accidently took a 2 hour nap....holy pregnant lady!

To be fair I did do a morning yoga practice and some gym time but I was pretty surprised when I slept that long!
Kinda felt like I was abandoning Travis on his 1st official Father's Day but, what can you do (other than sleep and wake up mumbling incoherently when he comes into the room to say "hi")?

I did some great yoga this weekend, I use Yogaglo and it felt really good to move. As a yoga teacher I know people think I do yoga ALL the time...and some weeks I do and some weeks I don't.
The past week I didn't do too much home practice so it felt really good to move. The baby really likes yoga, very wiggly...I think it's all the deep breathing. :)
Baby also likes when I teach, lots of kicks and what feels like back flips! I also think at some point my students will start to see movement. Kinda cool, might be kind of weird too...

Birthday Skirt (Fab gift!) and a gluten free treat

I got an awesome gift in the mail!
My cousin and aunt have a store called Olive Loom in Fayetteville, AR.
They have great handmade items including skirts, aprons, purses, and dresses.
If you are in Fayetteville and go to the Fayetteville Farmers Market you should check out there booth- such cute things!

I had seen a skirt that I LOVED when we went to Fayetteville a couple of weeks ago and surprise, surprise....my cousin made me one!

Woo! Woo!

And it is pregnancy friendly- SWEET. :)

Olive Loom skirt and officially 6 months pregnant!

Bump goes to the Market and the High Waist Skirt (pregnant version)

Hope your weekend was good, ours flew by again. They always do...
We were in town and able to do one of our favorite things during the summer- Farmers Market!
Took Miss Avery, she did really well and didn't try to attack any others dogs...this is a very positive step for her.

: )

Me and Avery at the Farmers Market

I am wearing a very "maternity" looking shirt. Got it from Gap Maternity, I like it pretty well. It is somewhat tight in the chest....and I do not have an ample chest so, this may or may not work for you if your girls are bigger than mine.
But it is very cute and I think I will be able to keep growing into it as the summer goes on.

You see that I have the best accessory to any outfit- Avery! She was a big hit. :)
